double thumb / motion hole inquiry
« on: August 02, 2014, 07:01:35 PM »
I understand a small amount on layouts. How does the double thumb and MoTion hole drillings compare to each other and other layouts?

I have a grease monkey and was thinking about what drill options to use with it.

My general stats: high track, low rev, speed approx 16 mph. I do not have specifics on PAP, or more accurate stats.

Generally, The double thumb is going to be a strong drilling with an earlier breakpoint. The motion hole is a drilling that will be longer and possibly stronger on the backend. If you pin the pin 4.5 inches from your pap and above the fingers, you should see a sharper move with continuation. If you put the pin 3.5 inches and or put the pin in a position under the fingers you'll get a smoother shape with more continuation. Mo really like the motion hole for high track bowlers and the double thumb for lower tracks. This is from his lips too! If I need a ball for oil and want a strong motion, I'll use a double thumb drilling. If I'm looking for more length and continuation on medium lane conditions, I'll use the motion hole. Personally, I'd use a yeti untamed for a motion hole, I think the core and cover are an awesome match for this type of layout.
