MB on your PAP

Generally, what will this do to the ball reaction down lane?

Depending on the MB strength of the core, it will make the ball want to go into a roll relatively quickly (also depending on ball speed and cover friction), reducing the amount of backend, compared to the MB being further away from your PAP/VAL.

In general, this can be good, the more ball speed you have or the more tilt or rotation you have or for using it on more or heavier oil.

There is just one problem. if you put the mb on youre pap, then youre pin will be in youre track. getting zero core help, and a very very mild reaction

That type of layout is really close to a 315 drilling. It kind of rolls like an axis weight type layout.

putting the mb on your pap will put the pin 6 3/4 from your PAP.  This will be in the highest rg.. like said you will have minimal flare and no help from the core. I think it might negate anything the mb will try to do.
it might even reverse flare cause the pin is so close to the track.

That is only one possibility.
Putting  your MB on your PAP does not require the pin to be in your track at all.

I assumed he was misinformed which is why I said MB on the "PAP/VAL". One does not normally put the MB on the PAP, but one can readly put the MB on or near your VAL with a mor normal pin placement.

not necessarily on the track but it is in the highest rg orientation.

Well the ball is Pin in and the MB is about 4 inches from the pin. My PAP is 4 1/4 by 1/4 up. So I might be able to place the pin under my middle finger.

on asymetrical balls the mb is always 6 3/4 from the pin as far as I know.  If you are talking about the cg .. that is something different.
If you put the cg - center of gravity on your pap you will more than likely need a huge weight hole to get it back to legal... and depending on where it is in relation to the pin it could change how the ball reacts.

with the pin at 3 3/8 and the cg on the pap .. this is called axis leverage.

AXIS LEVERAGE  back to top
A drilling pattern with the Center of Gravity located on the bowler's P.A.P. and the pin in the leverage position.

i believe this would have max flare and get the ball into a roll early.
