drilling advice
« on: October 18, 2011, 11:40:07 AM »
I just ordered a VG Nano, a DV8 Reckless, and Storm Natural.  I typically play more down and in around board 4 with 21 mph ball speed.  What would be best drill pattern for me on these balls?

Sounds like me with my bread and butter line and having a similar speed.  On the Nano, I just used a simple stacked layout with the pin above ring finger (3" pin to CG) and having the MB kicked out slightly.  I also sanded my Nano down to 2000 since the 4000 box finish was hit or miss with me.  With heavier oil in my house, this combo works as the ball reads the mids a touch earlier than the box finish but still has more than enough to finish in the backend.

Once the Nano starts to die out (usually 1-2 games in), I will then go down to my new Mission 2.0 or the Anarchy, depending on if I want a quicker midlane read or if I need more length.

My arsenal

Heavy Oil: Storm Virtual Gravity Nano: 2000 AB
Medium-Heavy Oil: Ebonite Mission 2.0: 2000 AB
Medium-Heavy Oil: Storm Anarchy: 1500 polished
Medium Oil: Roto Grip Nomad Dagger: 1500 polished

Medium-Light Oil: Roto Grip Rising Star: 1500 polished

Just curious as to how this drill pattern will allow to play different lines in the middle part of the lane if need so.  Would this prevent me from playing more middle parts of the lane and swing it, or would it limit me to playing down and in?  Been bowling for 15 years but never learned much about various drill patterns and what they allow or limit you to do.
