I have the boomer layout on a Blue Heist. That ball was selected to try the layout on because #1, it was cheap NIB and had the recommended specs for this particular drilling pattern. I knew the blue heist would be too much ball for the conditions I face so I adjusted the cover as tame as I could get it, without taming down the backend reaction with delayed reaction, something I have been doing with most of my other balls--this drilling already tames the backend reaction, didn't want to overkill it.
what happens on the lanes is this...When I am using my track flare and playing down & in over the 2nd arrow---once that ball starts jumping too much in the back I can switch to the Blue heist with the boomer layout and stay in the same place and hold pocket. Also, if the lanes are a bit oilier where I can't get a decent reaction with the flare from my preferred starting spot and area on the lane , I can grab the Blue Heist, pretty much stand in the same spot and target the ball further left(I'm a lefty) get it to the outside slightly drier boards very early on in it's ball path and I end up getting an inital early move but because of this drilling overreaction down lane is prevented and i can get to the pocket that way if need be.
