Crooked finger - grips vs Bio Skin Tape (or similar)
« on: January 26, 2016, 09:41:07 AM »
As a result of cracking my knuckles as a kid/teenager, I have always had to deal with a very crooked middle and ring finger (left-handed).
My middle finger has eventually gotten worse to the point of being 3/8 left lateral, but that's not terrible (yet). My ring finger however, continues to get worse and is now at 15/16 left lateral, which not only "assists" me in getting around the ball incorrectly, it also makes grips a bit of a bear to install. They are a pain in the tail, but I make it happen, and have never considered anything else. I have recently been told to do one of two alternatives and would like feedback:
1. Install the grip normally and slice the top with a razor blade, then sand it. Although I have the equipment to do this, I see absolutely no advantage.
2. I have also been told that most people with pitches greater than 1/2 lateral benefit from using a more "normal" pitch and adding Bio Skin tape to their fingers instead of using grips. I can see the potential advantage in helping me to stay behind the ball, but I'm not convinced. Has anyone else used by Bio Skin tape for this or other finger problems? What was your experience?

Thanks in advance
