I just bouught a Track Rule off eBay. It's an X-out because the CG is about an inch right of the line connecting the pin and MB. This would probably be great if I was lefty, but I'm not. The top weight's 3.5 oz, and the pin is about 3". How can I drill this without puting such a large weight hole in it that I lose all the backend?

actually this can be a great cg placement!!!
some of the best reacting balls i've owned have had the pin slightly to the right of my ring finger and above, and the mass bias mark slightly to the left of my thumb hole. this places the CG close to the midline of your grip.
this drilling slightly tames down the back end reaction, which in my opinion is not such a bad thing with strong mass bias balls. the ball may begin to roll a little sooner, so i would suggest this drilling when bowling on at least a medium oil house shot.
"trust me," try this drilling and you'll be pleasantly surprised!! let me know if you'd like me to send you a pic of a ball i have drilled like this.
happy holidays, badshot

The MB in the track is something I was trying to avoid. I should add that I'm trying to get a little more angle on the wetter PBA patterns, particularly pattern C.

sounds like this particular ball may not meet your needs/desires for the condition you're trying to fit . . .
i'm not sure what you mean about losing back end with a big weight hole. all the wieght hole does is make the ball legal. you may lose more overall ball weight, but not ball dynamics.

Stack the pin and MB, something like a 4 1/2 pin to PAP and the ball will roll great with the CG out. =:^D

Toad,
If I was drilling this ball for myself, I would put the pin where I want it, and the MB where I want it, disregard the CG, if I have to drill a hole, so be it.
Pattern C usually plays in, and with your medium speed, you can/should be able to get all the backend you need with a little shine from the box surface. The last time we had C, it played hooking a little to me, but didn't change much.
If you are still worried, I would put the pin over your ring finger, giving you about a 4 1/2 inch pin to PAP, and just get the MB to the right of your grip line. If you have to use a hole, you should be able to get away with a medium hole or smaller, say 27/32 or smaller.
Shine as needed, Rule is pretty strong ball, I might try one!
