Title: Drilling Layout

I am getting back into bowling after being away for 15 years.  I have a Columbia Detour, Storm Tropical, Columbia White Dot for spares,  and just picked up a Columbia U-Turn Reactive on e-bay.   I have a good pro shop that I use to drill up my equipment.  I asked him to drill up the U-Turn more aggressive.  I would like to post a review, but my knowledge of drill layouts is limited.  The U-Turn was drilled with the pin under the ring finger and the CG to the right of my palm (I'm right handed).  There is a weight hole drilled.  How do I describe this layout.  I have seen so many descriptions (i.e., stacked leverage, 4-1/2 x 3-1/2, etc.) and would like to know how I can describe the way my U-Turn is drilled.  Thanks for the advice!

Did your proshop find out where your PAP is?  Finding that location is the starting point for describing the layout used on the ball.

When you have the layout info, such as 4 x 3, 5 x 5, etc.....the first number is distance from the pin to your axis point and the second number is distance from MB to axis point.

My pro shop did not measure the PAP.  However, he has seen me throw and is familiar with my game.  I hope this isn't a stupid question, but how do you locate the MB point.  I am guessing this means the mass bias point.  Can I measure the PAP myself?  If so, how.  I really appreciate the help you are providing.

The link above takes you to the Unofficial FAQ thread.  There is a lot of great info there, including how to locate your PAP.  If your ball has a high mass bias (MB), it will be marked on the ball, the manufacturers use different symbols to mark it.  And the ball's core will be asymmetrical.  If no MB is marked, the ball has a symmetrical core (only a very weak MB) and the cg is used for the second "pin to" distance.  If you want to know whether a particular ball has a marked MB, go to the manufacturer's website and look at the specs for the ball.  --  JohnP
