Finger holes drilled deeper
« on: July 14, 2006, 02:48:33 PM »
I found a Scorchin Inferno that had the finger holes drilled for regular fingertips, then someone went to a smaller bit and drilled about 1 1/2" deeper w/o a leverage hole. Why was it drilled that way?

To take excessive finger weight out of the ball without adding an additional hole.

Or to lower the flare potential a little bit, depending on the pin location. Drilling the fingers deeper make the core shorter, and lowers the differential.

Also, drilling fingers deeper lowers spin time, if you're into that stuff.

Yeah but it would be better to drill a deep hole in the thumb/positive quadrant . That will increase the differential and lower the spin time.Drilling the fingers deeper would just lower the spin time and make it lay off more on the backend. Not what you want if your goal is to lower the spin time but great trick if your ball is overflaring.
