I have a triple xtreme with a 3 inch pin and 3 oz top weight

I'm thinking about 45 degree layout with 5 inch pin to pap and 3 inch pin-val buffer

this puts the MB a little closer to my val than than track hoping to make the backend more of an arc instead of violent snap and then 5 inch pin should get me length.

I was wanting to use this ball for a down and in type shot. probably going to keep it polished so it goes long enough.

this layout puts the CG 3/4 above my midline and 1 7/8 inches to the left of my grip center.

will this layout be easy to make legal with a balance hole below my pap and maybe fingers drilled farther in because of the cg being above the midline a little?

First, confirm the cg location and top weight on a dodo scale. If it is correct, you're going to end up with around 1 1/2 - 2 oz of positive side weight. For where you want the balance hole, yes, drill the finger holes 3/4 - 1" extra deep. Before drilling the balance hole, weigh it and take it out to the lanes and throw it to see what the reaction is. Then use the balance hole location to tweak the reaction as well as make the ball legal. -- JohnP

typically people put the balance hole in a line with the grip center cg line to neither end up with a legal finger thumb top weight.

By putting the cg above grip center and balance hole below grip center...YES you are introducing finger weight to the mix. And yes some compensatory drilling of the fingers would have to be done to PROBABLY get back to legal.

The more standard method is to put the cg slightly below the dividing line between grip center north and south and then put the weighthole on the VAL along the grip center - cg line.
