4x4,4x3,4x2,4x1 difference
« on: April 05, 2004, 06:06:19 PM »
I know that the pin 4" from the PAP will give me more length
and back end snap.  What is the difference in reaction as I
move the CG farther away from the PAP, going from 4x1 up to
4x4?  Thanks.

No, the 4" pin determines flare potential....so it would go from flippiest to more rolling or arcing character, just as you have it listed
4x4 is flippiest and it gets more arcy as it goes down to 4x1, with 4x1 being the smoothest of the 4 drillings...

sorry I did it the opposite way !

i thought puttin the pin closer to your pap got the ball into a roll earlier not the cg.

so a label drill 4x5 is the flippiest? i had my x-factor drill 5x3-1/2 and that was just plain uncontrollable and unforgiving.

Plus40 pretty much got it.

The pin position at 3 3/8 from the PAP provides maximum flare potential for that core and ball combination.

Move the pin towards the PAP and it will flare less and hook earlier. Move the pin further away and it will flare less and hook later.

Higher pins in relation to the center of the grip create length lower pins give earlier hook.

The same with the CG, as you move it closer to the PAP the ball will roll earlier. Further away the ball will roll later.

Plus 40 did it WAY better than me!

Doesn't matter on a MB marked ball Brian,.....if it's in the strong position = flip!

And, no, 4x5 is also an arc, just more delayed and a little sharper than a 4x2
