Top hat and thumb lateral pitch
« on: October 16, 2007, 04:10:49 AM »
I remember when I first encountered the extreme wet dry in a new area reading Columbia's great article on playing to a point about 5 boards wider than the oil line with a reaction Roll.

Great and underappreciated ball(very durable by the way).

So last night on one of these special nights(1 a game all day). I go over and a very wet blended top hat is out(every week because of the volume).

VEry slippery and because of our usual dryer conditions I have the thing highly polished. After a few games...boy does this thing start to create area once one gets there feet planted inside the oil line. Note one of my teammates uses one highly polished with the Brunswick 3E drilling(pin about 1 1/2 from PAP) and really looks good with it on our dryer league condition!

While watching I notice the no thumbers really looking nice on this shot. Along with this I had another ball with more lateral left(under palm for me).
And I loved the roll and the feeling that I was closer to a no thumber with this setup. The only thing I noticed was I had added reverse as the common wisdom with extra thumb under palm is one needs to the help (reverse) to get out of the ball.

Going to add some more thumb lateral to this ball and keep the reverse the same(I remember Bill Taylor said put more forward on this setup...contrary to common wisdom today).

Was heading towards a very big game with the area created. I want to see if I can get more!

Your thoughts on lateral and necessary reverse and it's affect on top hat bowling!

His profile says "tweaking folks like L"L...but I got a very nice message from Deadbait which I thought may be very helpful.

Thanks!
