I have a question, just out of curiousity nothing more. I have a No Rules and my coach drilled my ring finger through the Pin. What exactly does this do? The ball rolls perfectly for me and I'm scoring higher then ever.
I'm not completely knowledgeable about Pin placement, layouts, etc. I've always just trusted the professionals. I'm wondering now because I think my coach is about to retire. He's old-school and doesn't use any kind of software like the other guys in the shop.
Any and all info you give me on what drilling through the Pin does, any info on layouts, and what the Pin does exactly would be greatly appreciatted!

The main reason for drilling out the pin is because, if any hole is within 1" of the pin it can void the warranty. (Drilling out the pin doesn't though)
So when the PSO layouts a ball, if the pin is too close to the hole. They'll tweak the layout some and just drill the pin out (at least they should).
When the pin is too close to a hole they tend crack in the space between them (Like a bridge cracking) more often and it could possibly crack even farther.

Well...For me and my PAP and stats...Which is probably different than your PAP and stats. I track med-high.
It's completely middle of the road. It's not pin up, it's not pin down, it's not pin right of the ring....Or even left of the ring. It's smack dab in the middle of everything. I kinda get the best of all worlds...And like posted above...It saves your warranty when you got a shorter pin!

Just to add, what the pin in the ring finger hole does is not generic; it depends explicitly on what your PAP, your rev rate, ball speed, tilt and rotation are and the oil you are facing. This is true for this drilling and every other. You should really talk to your driller about why he did this. And remember this drilling may not be appropriate for every ball you own/drill and for every oil pattern you face.

Thanks for the responses! This layout is only on is ball. I have others with the pin up and right of my ring finger, one that's right in between my fingers about 1 1/2 inches or so. I'm just very curious.
As the sure how it affected my core and the rotation of the ball.
