drilling sugestions
« on: March 30, 2009, 06:38:08 AM »
I have a razyr with a pancake block that I need to drill.  I normally get balls with a min. of a 3 inch pin or else I catch a good bit of thumb.  My driller and I have tried drilling this as a full roller but then I catch the inside of the thumb.  My pap is 6.25 and 1 inch up.  I am just looking for any sugestions on how what to do.

Thanks,
Dustin

The Razyr is not going to flare much if at all, so the track is going to stay where it is when you throw it.  Your PAP location suggests that your initial track is either just next to or over the thumb hole.  That's where it will stay.  The suggested layout is pin 3/4" to the positive side and 3/4" toward the fingers, that's as good as any.  --  JohnP

Thanks, I was hoping that I might be able to move the pin and lower the initial track.  The slight thumping doesn't bother me and I bowl on really dry wood lanes, so I guess I will have to deal.

One of the things about the Razyr is that you can drill it axis weight and make the differential go from .020 to around .040 to create a little more flair from this ball. Drilling the weight hold through the cg or near it close to axis. It works really well for more control and a stronger reaction.
