Griplok Thumb slug

Has anyone tried the Griploc interchangable thumb slug and how does it relate the others out there?  I've ordered a one to try it out.  This will be my first try at the interchangable thumbs.  Thanx everyone.

Griploc : Greatest thing since sliced bread...bought a used ball with Turbos version and wanted to get inserts in my thumb size, but they do not make them any way but solid and had to pay the pro shop guy not only for the slugs but also to then drill them the different sizes I needed. He also had to have the ball to set the depth of the slug as they are long and need routered off..ended up with $15 apiece in just the inside pieces.....Griploc you drill the depth and angle the same in all your balls and then you can order any size round hole in 64ths and switch them at will $6 apiece...only $4 for the outer sleeve so each ball only costs you $4 for the thumb and use your inserts...If you would rather have a beveled or oval thumb you can work out the Griploc insert easily with a bevel knife etc, and get it to feel good..if you screw up just order a new slug for $6...Also if you do not like the colors that determine size can order a black 7/8 and drill it to your size or any other color that is smaller than your thumb......big necessity here, use their glue because it is  a slow dry version, if you use regular super glue you may not get the sleeve all the way in in time...hope this helps...Alzgarvin ....        I have 12 balls now with griploc and can switch thumbs and they all feel exactly the same!!!

Hmm, questions on this.
I have the Turbo and like them a lot, but I have been amzingly frustrated by how hard it is to get a pro shop to get it right, and the thumb holes never are drilled enough apart, no matter how much effort I've put into it.

1. Are you saying that the Griploc holes are pre-drilled and snap right in?
2. Do they feel like normal urethane slugs?
3. Are you sure there's enough material to allow for ovaling without cracking the inner sleeve?

lefty50,   Yes they are predrilled round in 64ths from 3/4 to 1 1/32...They work and feel just like urethane slugs(may actually be)...it depends how big your thumb size is as to wether there is room to oval, mine is 15/16 and can oval a lot with no problems now for a year without any breakage...this is the smaller size that uses a 1 3/8 drill size...if you have a large thumb and want to do bigger holes or different angles to switch in the same hole then you can buy the 1 1/2 drill size but then need to drill out your size from solid blanks...height of slug is precut as well whereas the turbos need routered down and drilled to size...    www.griplocproducts.com      Alzgarvin

Thanks. I think I'll give them a try. My Turbos are ok, but there's room for improvement, particularly dependent upon ball driller.

As long as they feel like urethane and can be ovalled, I'll give it a try. Thanks for the info!

Alzgarvin, I got my 2 sleeves and solid yesterday and tried it out.  I didn't hit the center of the slug and ended up cracking the side of the slug and breaking one of the locks.  I'm going to order the pre-made rounds and try it that way.  Also, when I put the drill bit to the slug to dril it, the slug fell down about a 1/16th of an inch because of the pressure.  Oh well, you always break the first one.  What do you recommend to cut of the excess outer sleeve once you install it and how far up does the new inner sleeve stick up above the ball when you install a new one?  I don't have much pitch, 1/8 reverse and 1/8 left pitch (righty).  Other than that, I like it so far and I like it since there is  not much slop when you have the sleeve inside compared to like the Thoms Thumb insert.  Anything you can give for advice would help.

Oh God.. Thom's Thum. Run away from that as fast as you can. I spent > $100 on those pieces of junk before finding (thankfully) my Turbos....

And please keep us posted on the adventures with Griplok. I'm really interested in switching from my Turbo's to the Griplok. The small Turbo problems caused by inaccurate ball drillers make the Griplok worth a try.

I think I'm going to like these once I get to throw it after I get the premade ovals in week or two.  I think its cheaper than Turbos and I can get it myself right from the source.  I'll keep you informed.
