1" Pins
« on: April 19, 2009, 04:17:54 AM »
How much, and in what way, will a 1" pin affect a ball's reaction characteristics?

Can drillings negate the effects of a short pin?

Thanks!

Pretty much just limits your layout options. For example, depending on the top weight,it can be difficult to put the pin above the fingers. It can also limit your use of a weight hole,if you wanted one for a specific reaction.Generally,1" pins are best for pin under finger layouts.

As pooh said, it depends on the top weight.  If it's low, in the <2oz range, you can do almost anything you want with it.  A modest weight hole will manage static weights no problem.  More TW, >2.5oz, then you need to be a little more careful.
