mass bias position
« on: February 16, 2009, 03:56:23 AM »
After many many years of drilling we relatively recently found out that it is the PIN distance from the PAP that changes the amount of track flare and that changes how the ball will react to the lane conditions. And again relatively recently have a real reason why pin up balls react differently than pin down ball. My question is, what is ultimately the defining factor in relation to the MB placement.  Is it the distance of the mb mark on the ball to the PAP?  Is it the distance from the track?  Is it the drill angle from the PAP to the pin to the PAP(morich dual angle)? Or is it something else?  What is the end all be all reason the MB position does what it does?

I have seen that and use it as a guide.
So is a 5inch pin always longer than a 4 inch pin regardless of the MB placement?  I may not fully understand what the mass bias placement does.
So how would a 5.5" pin with a position #4 mb postion compare to a 4" pin and a #1 mb position?

I think an important part of this layout guide that is not in the dual angle from Mo-rich is the part about the track size or axis tilt. And based on that only using certain mass bias placements. I have a fairly high track with low axis tilt degree.. any mass bias lower than 55 deg doesn't work at all for me.. the ball is just too early and burns up on just about every condition.  that is what this guide basically suggests..

Oops read it wrong longer and less flare but mb placement could actually negate it with shorter pins to paps and mb changes.
