dual angle drilling
« on: August 31, 2016, 07:05:37 PM »
question that i have is how much does the pin position in relation to your finger holes matter when using a dual angle drilling? meaning pin above or below or next to ring finger for example?

Pin position is in realation to PAP. The rest is just a simplified version of altering the pin to PAP and or VAL angle. Hope I don't sound like a douche because that's not what I'm trying to do.

Mo does say if the pin is too close to a finger hole, either drill it out, or move it up or down to give some distance from the hole and the pin.

Pin height is determined by the angle to the VAL, smaller angles give higher pins, larger angles give lower pins.  The pin height then affects the ball's reaction the same as it does for any other layout system.  --  JohnP

People tend to say "pin above ring finger", well, that could be 2" from PaP for some and 5" from PaP from said person..  It's all about the VaL angle and pin distance from PaP..

Pin to PAP distance will dictate the amount of flare.  For a given pin to PAP distance, where the fingers and thumb hole are in relation to the core (pin is the top of the core) can influence the reaction to friction. It can also modify the amount of flare that was created from the pin to PAP.  The VAL angle is just a way to describe where the pin(core) is in relation to the holes.  The "VAL angle" itself is not what influences or creates the reaction, it is where the holes are in relation to the core.
