Would like some help on a dual angle layout.I am trying to find what they call the sweet spot.Going to drill a Brunswick Platinum Ringer Symmetrical ball.Mostly for the THS.Any help greatly appreciated as this dual angle is all new to me.
Here is my specs
16mph at the foul line
Rev Rate 390-400
75*axis rotation
17* axis tilt
Pap is 5 over 1/4 up

Do something like 60*x4"x30*, adjust weight hole accordingly if necessary.
-
Would a 50*x 4x 70* be a pin down drilling, based on the PAP above? Or is this drilling doable pin up or pin down?
-
Maybe, I'd have to do the layout to see. But it should be close to clipping the pin or drilling through it.

Dual angle layouts are not pin up/pin down flexible... that would completely negate the precision of using the system.
Pin should be just right of the ring finger (depends on span) or in the ring finger slightly... PSA would be just below the thumb hole with a symmetric core or below and just right of the thumb hole if the core had a pre-drilled intermediate mass bias of 0.015 or higher...

That is precise! Thanks for the info!

+1. Great Job JMac.

I've spent a lot of time dabbling with a full version of BluePrint, but without it at home I just used various layout sheets and guesstimated. My original Columbia U2 is my at home "blackboard", but it's buried in the closet...

Thanks for the replies guys. But still kinda confused One says 60 x 4 x 30 another says 50 x 4 x 70.Seems to me thats quite a bit different from each other.Do I toss a coin and see if I end up with a doorstop? Just kidding I got plenty already. ;D

I hit the easy button. I tell my Ball Driller what I want the ball to do on the lane, and he is good at giving me that ball.
-
Well I drill my own stuff. Its safer around here.Driller here is terrible.I am trying to learn the dual angle stuff. But thanks for the input.

Sorry to have confused you, BowlingforSoup. I was only asking about the 50x4x70 drilling as an aside to your original question. It is just a drilling I was interested in.

Jesse, Drillings in the area of 50 x 4 x 70 give or take 5 degrees or so is one of my favorite drillings. My PAP is 4 x 1/2 up and that drilling places the Pin under my RF.

I suppose I'm just not a big fan of going with a larger val angle than initial angle for a house shot . . I don't get the point.

To me the point is what works best for the bowler and his style of bowling. On THS, the 50 x 4 x 70 give or take 5 degrees like 50 x 4 x 65 that I have on 2 new MOTIV balls works perfect for me on THS.

Gizmo,
It's more for people who either create a lot of friction or play closer to the friction and need the ball to roll heavier and giving them a straighter angle to the pocket, rather than transitioning too quickly on the back part of the lane and having to cover a lot of boards. Low track players or extremely high tilt players will tend to like this type of layout to get the ball rolling and burning off tilt.
-
Yeah, that makes sense. Must be a region or house thing, we have soft backends around here, so something that rolls early and transitions slow is going to be a nightmare here. 2/1 initial to val ratios are generally where we hover around here.

Amen! Amen! I have to have balls that transition slow because I am a heavy-handed stroker, usually bowling on lanes with strong or very fast backends!!
Been working on using a softer hand for the last 4 months with mixed results.

I do better on most ths with higher val. I'm higher tilt and it allows me to control breakpoint.

for THS you can use a symmetric and do a big VAL and a P3 or a DT weight hole to get the ball to transition a little faster. I've drilled a few of those and people have shot big games.
