Dual Angles System
« on: December 11, 2013, 02:13:31 PM »
Just learning the dual angle system.  Pretty easy to lay out.  Just understanding proper angles for the right people, is going to be tough.  Also the sweet spot dual number.  Not sure if there is a better formula, outside of trial and error.

Also in the reading I have done the last couple of days states that the angle does not matter as much as where the pin is, high or low, and the pin to PAP number to determine flare.  (do not know if I am in agreement with this).  As label drills do not work for me.  I always need to kick the cg right (right-hander).  It also states roll is determined on the weight hole more than where the cg is.

I am now a little confused.  Mo Pinel's stuff seems to do that for me.  I like the keep it simple method.  Not just learning for me, but also for my bowlers in my center.

The dual angle system is pretty good.  The 'sweet spot' number situation is kinda tough to get, but you can take it off somebodies ball <one they like> and start from there.  Usually I just work with--the more speed dominant, you use smaller angles and the more rev dominant, you use bigger angles.  If you have questions on the pin to PAP distances--if you can, drill 2 balls <assymetrical same ball> up with a 3" and a 5"--you will see a BIG difference in reactions down lane.

Kicking the cg right and leaving the pin in the same location does nothing. Adding an xhole due to the shifted weight will do something. Keeping the pin in the same location and shifting the cg does not move the core more then an 1/8" on symmetric core balls.
…… you can't  add a physics term to a bowling term and expect it to mean something.

Here is a description of how to find the sweet spot:

It comes from the relationship of speed to revs where revs are biased by tilt.
