Over/Under
« on: April 14, 2006, 10:45:00 AM »
Hi,

I am wondering what drilling is best in taming down an over/under condition on a typical house shot.

We have a medium dry shot, but the backends have been sloppy lately from 10 to 10, and thus, weaker balls tend to be too weak, and stronger balls are way to strong (the head oil won't support throwing dull stuff, at my speed at least).  I have been throwing a Mercury slightly inside out on the ten, but really struggle with slight misses left and right.

I have always heard that using a weak solid reactive (low diff) is usually a preferred choice, but what drilling should I put on something like that?

Any help is greatly appreciated,

dR3w

PS.
I did a search through the database (over the last year), but the returned responses were not visible since they were older than 120 days.  Seemed kind of funny that I could use the tip in the BR.com unofficial FAQ section to search the entire database, but couldn't see any responses to the older topics that it returned.  Is there a way around this?

I drilled a Slash with a 2 x 4 drilling, sanded to 1200 just for the same conditions and it works great. I can play in the oil more and not have the ball jump off the dry if I get the ball out a little.

My suggestion would be to drill something solid with a low differential like you mentioned and maybe drill it pin under ring finger. I have an old amf tour menace drilled like this, it reads the dry very smooth and just rolls on the backend.  Basically on that kind of condition, I think you need a little surface, maybe 800 or 1000 grit smooth and something that rolls and doesn't snap.

PUre wet drys...bone dry outside and good backend...I"ve had great luck with a Columbia Icon (wetter days) and a Columbia Panic(both drilled near stacked).

I used this tip.

Columbia Wet/Dry tip

For WET/Drys with carrydown (the worst condition I think) I have started using the Storm Super Sport Pearl(it does not look or act like a pearl) smooth.  Read reviews on this website!
In our anvilane center...the most wet dry center I've seen(but carrydown at 40 feet) this ball drilled stacked over ring(our balls start hooking in midlane).is the bomb!

This ball supplies less midlane(the lane supplies that) but a smooth strong back end due to it's low flare slight mass bias core and the fantastic reactor coverstock.  700s are abounding by many who are picking them up...and it is so good...I own two!

PS your saturn should be close...but the Hot ROD SS oh my!
