Plug Cutter or router?  I'm wondering which to get and would like to hear pros and cons from some of you who prefer one over the other.  Could anyone recommend a "best value" plug cutter, the super high end ones would be out of my budget.  How often do plug cutters need to be sharpened and do they need to be shipped off for service?  For the router fans, Are there any particular shields that work better than others.

Router, cheaper, easier, bits are dirt cheap if they need to be replaced, IMO.

I have had an Innovative mill for 10 years and have used a plug cutter without any probelems.  Prior to the Innovative I used a router.  It worked fine but I spend less time finishing the ball now than when I used a plug router.

I have both, but I feel more comfortable with the plug cutter. I have only used my router 2-3 times since I bought it new.

Thanks for all of the feedback.  I also heard it's nice to use a router for the bulk of it and then go over it with the plug cutter.  Like anything the more you spend the better it is.

Another router question...  Is a smaller router better because it's lighter and easier to handle, or is the H.P very inportant.
