Lefty,
The layout is designed for them to get the ball to delay the ball in friction until it pretty much reaches the pins, then set. It does give them the big booming backend they can create, especially Couch, when their balls reaches said friction. Low rev bowlers are not advised to use it because it hinders the balls reaction and the less revolution a bowler puts on the ball the more accurate they have to be. In laymans terms, Jason and Tommy can repeat shots and be accurate with a high rate of revolution and its that rev rate that can help them correct arrant shots with the layout.
That being said, yes it can work for you. I'm not a high rev bowler and o had Jason Couch's layout on a Roto-Grip Horizon Pearl and it rolled tremendous in the dry. It gave me the ability to move in and play in front of the 2-4, where most lefty's in this particular house werent playing. The friction pulled the ball back to the pocket. You can use it, but it will have to be in a house that has decent friction to help you get ball to recover.
