Ending side weight on Rev. Lev. drills

Ebonite suggests that you take the ball to negative 1/2 oz. when drilling rev leverage layouts.   I was wondering why?  I'm toying with leaving 3/4 oz. positive weight in a TPC Player I'm having drilled today.  What difference should this make and is there a reason why negative weight is recommended by Ebonite?

FWIW I believe that Ebo is just hedging their bets because rev leverage drillings can be so spookily early in their reactions. In case, it's not enough, the negative side weight (or thimb or bottom weight) will have some effect on making it even earlier, in theory. The degre to which it will do that in dynamic cored balls is HIGHLY debatable.

I agree with Charlest. Ebonite is hedging their bet with the negative side weight.

The rev leverage layout is supposed to get the ball into an earllier roll, so the negative side weight will aid in enhancing this reaction.

I also believe that weights do matter, so it's a good concept by Ebonite to use negative weights with the rev leverage layout. =:^D

Too bad I already had to drill a huge hole to get the ball legal.  I don't think it's possible to get to negative with this ball.  I already have a 1 3/16" hole nearly 3" deep on the PSA and I had to take the fingers to about 2.5" to get the finger weight under an ounce.  I'll never do a "fancy" drill on a ball with 4 ounces of top weight again.

Rev Leverage is not so much fancy (in my opinion, FWIW) but more extreme, trying to get a ball to do what it wasn't really intended to do. I understand we all do this from time to time. Hope it works for you.

Mine was, as indicated, just a guess.
I am also of the that persuasion, believing core modification is more explanatory of the changes than any weight removal is. His quotation deftly explains it!

Uhhh...  isn't the max allowable balance hole size 1 3/16"?

No, it is 1 1/4".  In reference to your highlighting of the 1 1/8", this matters how?
