Post by: mikeywg on October 15, 2007, 03:55:31 PM
i was contemplating a "radical" layout for my next ball. here is the layout.

       O

my question is what kind of reaction shoud i expect from this. and is it legal.

Early roll and midlane with little back end on most conditions.Depending on your pap, this will be close to a pin on pap layout. For me,this has been a good layout for playing a gutter shot on some conditions taht allow it.Low flaring, early rolling, easy to control. If there is no head oil, put it away.

Question: Why would you "contemplate" this particular "radical" layout not knowing the reaction??? Seems to me one would contemplate a reaction rather than a layout. Maybe it's just me..........

I was thinking the same thing.  It amazes me the number of people who experiment just for the sake of trying something different without having a clue what it will do.

that diagram didnt come out like i had hoped.

____O_O__

-.cg---------pin*

_____O__

this is a better diagram here. i am looking to put the pin and cg on a level line halfway between fingers and thumb.

Also i am a right hander.

what reaction would i get if i flipped the pin & cg?

But, WHY? Unless you get a ball with about 1 ounce of top weight you'll end up putting a weight hole on your nap, or close to it. That means probably in your track causing a thumper. Why not contemplate what reaction you may want and THEN look for a layout to achieve it??

By flipping the pin and CG from you have shown it will be nearly a full roller layout.
