Title: Finger pitches and their effect on ball roll
Post by: jjweb on January 12, 2006, 06:52:08 AM
I remember reading something on the effects of finger pitches and ball roll?

On a side note,

I'm not in any pain, but lately I've noticed that my ring finger has been tightening/swelling the day after bowling. I have not lost any flexibility in it (still bends 90 degrees) it's just kind of annoying.

Just a friendly word of advice. Listen to what your finger is telling you & figure out what to do to keep it from getting worse. Check the span & the pitch especially on that finger. Even if your current specs are by the book, find a way to relieve the stress or excessive pressure/pull on that finger. I'm talking from experience.

The first sign of a problem, I had with my ring finger was stiffness, and a little swelling. From there I developed stiffness, and couldn't bowl.
I shortened the span about an 1/8 of an inch on the ringer finger, and went to 1/4 trvrtdr in the finger pitch, from 0. I also went gtom 3/4" left lateral (I'm a lefty) to 5/8" left lateral. This started last year...Over the summer, I worked out the fit problems, and have no pain, swelling at all. Have a qualified driller check your fit.
