In a fingers first drilling after you drill the fingers, to find the position of the thumb you make an arc with length to one finger, and and arc to the length to the other, and where they intersect is where you drill.  

Am i correct in saying this.  You do this in the case of an offset thumb correct?

 The pooh is correct. The offset is only an optical illusion and is carried out by lengthening the ring finger and shortening the middle finger. It all depends on where you draw the line.
