Tri grip question.....where is the thumb?

I am trying to understand the tri grip drill. Everyone that I have seen has it basically just has the thumb left of center grip (right handed). I was talking with a ball driller today and he says that the thumb with a tri grip is on placed on the center grip line. I don't know who or what is right. Can someone with more experience with this please shed some light on this please.

The idea of "off setting" the thumb from an original centerline started way back with Brunswick "I think Brunswick even patented the drill.  This was back in the 1940's or 50's. It's original name was "Brunswick Offset".   This idea has been used since then by some ball "guru's" touting this as something new and original.   It's been reinvented many times and just as many times it's been debunked and fades away.  Just forget about it, its not worth spending any time with it.

The tri grip does not place the thumb on the center line.  Each hole (thumb, both fingers) have their own center lines with unique pitches.

There is really no such thing as an offset thumb.  In order to establish a center of grip you have to measure from the finger holes to the front edge of the thumb hole.  What most call an offset thumb is really just a dropped ring finger.
