I currently have 0 and 1/8 palm pitch in the thumb. Im thinking of going forward, what is the "typical" amount of forward to go to from zero?

Depends on thumb flexibility and span length. All forward pitch will do, is help teach you to not grab the ball at release. If you grab the ball while having forward pitch, it may hurt your hand and/or thumb quite a bit. Why do you want the forward pitch in your thumb?

I threw a friends ball of mine and he had a 16th forward and a 16th palm and I liked the way it felt. Just wondering, im going to throw this idea by pro shop operator, however more opinions are welcome.

I am about to reslug everything I have this wednesday to go to forward in the thumb. For about a year I've been at 1/8 reverse and 1/8 left lateral. Lately I've been squeezing no matter how tight I make the thumb with tape and it's really causing me to do some funky things at the release point. I'm about to take it to 1/8 forward and 1/8 right lateral to start. I know a 1/4 jump is big, but I definately need a big adjustment as bad as I feel like I'm throwing it right now.

I wouldn't make the lateral and forward changes at the same time.
Explanation:
Right now you have 1/8 rev and 1/8 left.
I am going to assume that your thumb lays at about 45° so as far as your thumb is concerned the current pitches are all reverse.
I say this because the 2 pitches would triangulate to a single pitch that is at 45° due to equal lengths. If the pitches weren't of equal length the triangulated pitch would be at a different angle but that is another story.
You could get the same feel by using a single pitch with the ball placed in the jig at 45° and using either .176 reverse or .176 left depending on which way you rotated the ball. On a standard drill .176 is slightly less than 3/16 (.1875) on a mill you could dial in the actual decimal pitches.
By changing to 1/8 fwd and 1/8 right it would be all forward as far as your thumb is concerened assuming a 45° thumb angle.
