I've been struggling with a high track for some time now.  I finally got to try a full roller drill (3 3/8) on an old ball.  No thumping.  The only problem was that the ball hooked very early.  I'm looking to buy some new equipment soon.  I need to know what types of pin placements to get: pin-in or pin-outs.  Would a pin-in ball get down the father before hooking?  (placing the pin closer to the grip)  Would a pin-out ball hook sooner? (placing the pin farther away from the grip)  I'm new to full roller drillings.  I have tweener/cranker revs and can generate plenty of ball speed if need be.  Also, what role does the cg play in full roller drillings?

The 3 3/8 that I was referring to was from the center of the grip in a 5:30 direction (left handed).  The ball that I tried this drilling on was a polished Too Hot on a medium house shot.  The ball got absolutely no length.  It wanted to hook as soon as the ball touched the lane.  I need some drillings that will give me some length.  I have high revs and medium to high speed.

Full Roller drillings are measured from NAP(negative axis point) verses the traditional PAP(positive axis point.) Your NAP is the exact opposite of your PAP.Remember those old globes of the world in school. The north and south poles had an imaginary axis running thru them. PAP and NAP work the same way. When they place your pin 3 3/3 from the center of your grip they are really placing it 3 3/8 from your NAP. This is a leverage drill for a full roller and I'm not surprised the ball hooked early if it was an aggressive coverstock. The closer you move the pin to the center of the grip the less aggressive the drill. A 4" pin to pap in full roller = 2 3/4 Pin to grip center. A 4 1/2 pin to pap=2 1/4" pin to center of grip. A 5" pin to pap = 1 3/4" pin to grip center. You move closre to grip center because your really measuring from NAP.
