Full Roller layout with too much finger wt?
« on: March 10, 2010, 07:53:43 AM »
So i drilled a magic x-out for a guy who is a full roller. The layout is pin, MB on the midline.  I weighed it up and it still has 1  3/8 oz finger weight.. I drilled the fingers very deep so I am going to need an x-hole. I am going to place the weight hole above the fingers so I dont change the side weight.. Does that sounds right??   I know very little about full roller layouts

Yes just punch the weight hole above the fingers or even above the ring finger to make sure he doesnt clip it. Make sure you pitch it away from the grip so you hit all ball the whole way down and don't violate the BS USBC rule about weight holes hitting the other holes.

I''m having trouble visualizing how a ball with the pin and MB on the midline could end up with that much excess finger weight.  Was the cg that far off the pin to MB line?  I''m assuming that, for a (right handed) full roller layout, the pin was left of the centerline and the MB was right of the centerline.  And that is an unusual full roller layout, let us know how it performs.  --  JohnP

John...I'm guessing that since it was an X-Out that it might have had a good amount of top weight and the reason for it being a second could've been a long pin distance.  Drilling a 2nd of this kind for a full roller would put the CG up pretty high so I could see the finger weight being high.
