I need some insight on a few things...My girlfriend tracks over her thumbhole on every shot.. the first flare rings end up about 1-2 inches from her fingers though. her layouts are really strong, usually pin right of or below/right of the ring with weight holes (I don't understand this one but she gets free equipment and drilling from her school team), but she even rolls over the thumb with her plastic ball without intentionally trying to flatten out her wrist. Im not sure of her pap, but I'm going to have her get it measured this week. obviously she's unable to get any sort of backend and has a lot of inconsistency and lack of trust in her equipment and her game.
Does this mean she is a full roller, or do full rollers track over both the thumb and fingers? I don't fully know what full roller means, if someone could shed some insight on this for me it would be appreciated. What causes her track to be like this? Should she be using different/specific types of layouts? Or is her problem mainly with her release, and should this be corrected first? Thanks for the input

I recently got a ball and it rolled over tge thumb. I am a full roller which is track close to the fingers. Turned out to be a missed marked ball where the pin was in wrong spot. If she is a full roller her track would be next to fingers and close to thumb hole. My pin position is always slightly to the right and above my ring finger. So going off what you are saying it sounds like her ball may be layed out wrong for her. The weight hole should pull her track away from the thumb hole. So you could also try going with a bigger weight hole. Hope that helps

It's a full roller you should lay them out accordingly...it's abt controlling the flare to avoid the gripping holes

A full roller will track (for RH) left of the finger holes and right of the thumb hole. See link for picture:

Tracking over the thumb means either the ball is not drilled properly (pin in wrong location) or the bowler may not be releasing the ball properly for the full roller.
Most manufacturers have full roller layouts available, here are a couple samples:

This is helpful.. she has a really high track and yesterday when we bowled she changed her release slightly and the flare lines weren't clipping the thumb... I definitely think it's a mechanics issue, but she definitely needs better layout choices. Thanks
