Girard layout?

I want a layout that will give some midlane but cut the back ends down as much as I can. I'm thinking of using the Girard layout. Pin below thumb, offset slightly toward track, with CG in palm; pin to NAP about 40% of Pin to PAP.

Any thoughts? Any other suggestions?

That layout should work, but it takes some experimentation to figure out exactly when it is useful. Most of the time it lacks power at the pocket, especially on a THS. My suggestion would be to either try that, or you could try a leverage pin drill with the cg swung onto your PAP, and drill a LARGE weighthole on your PAP. This drilling is really smooth and starts up early, but lays off on the backends.

I have had great success with that type of layout on both THS and flatter oil patterns as well.  For me, it eliminated (at least for the most part) all of the single pin leaves I was used to seeing due to too much backend reaction.  Typically I would leave a bunch of 4 pins, 9 pins, and combinations of 4-9's...  That layout is great for controlling the backends.  I've had the best success with particle and stronger resin covers.  One word of advice would be to place the pin low enough so the line from pin to PAP passes a minimum of 2" below your thumb hole (depending on span, cg location, and pin to cg length, this will leave you with around a 4" to 5" pin to NAP distance).

The best layout I have used for high flying backends is a label layout.

The Girard is similar to a full roller layout, if I remember correctly.  I had a DZ2 drilled like that, wow what a hook set that was.

Mario stay away from all that exotic stuff.  You always have to keep in mind that the ability of PBA players is leaps and bounds above our level.And I doubt that you will ever see the type of condiitions as frequent as the pros.  Having said that, go label, about 2 x 2 1/2, Check out the Rs-1 in my profile, It will give you exactly what you are looking for, GUARANTEED.  Also place a x-hole 1/2 outside of your PAP.

Is it wet dry or more of a sport with flying backends that you are attacking?
