Title: Give me advice on my new HY-road

I bowl on med- med light lanes.  I want the new Hy-road to hook a little less say 2-3 boards if possible.  Im a stroker 15-16 mph, play up the 10 mostly but have learned to swing it a little.

Tell me how to drill

Not enough information for us to help you. If you could give us at least your PAP and video or axis tilt we could help more.

Only thing I can say it my first oil ring is pretty close to the thumb hole so I mostly go up the back of the ball.  My Pap is between 5 and 5.5 inches...

Yes, PAP is needed,  general guide: PIN closer to PAP <3 3/8 inches will be more control, Further from PAP >3 3/8 inches will be more length.
While 3 3/8 inches from PAP is the strongest PIN position.

You can use this as guide.

I went with pin over bridge about 1 inch.......I also noticed that the shell of this HY-road is pretty thick....maybe an inch....is this normal?

I like going close to PAP to enhance control, maybe 2 - 2 1/2".  One of my "go to" balls is drilled 2" from PAP and the reaction is great for playing straighter.  If the lanes open up a bunch I usually need to put it away in favor of something drilled stronger.

Everyone needs a ball drilled this stable in their arsenal, in my opinion.  Too often we fall in love with maximizing hook, and everything looks alike, etc.
