Go long, but controllable breakpoint

I ordered a Rampage, should arrive today.  I want length, 5 1/2" pin to pap, high rg pin above fingers.  I plan on putting the cg in a position, where I can get close/just under 1 oz of side weight.  Thus, allowing me the option of a weight hole to alter the reaction if I so chose.  

If memory serves me correctly, a balance hole, on the midline between the center of grip and pap, will tame the backend, right??

Not necessarily. I believe the theory is that it will reduce the overall flare. To my mind that will make the ball less controllable, because it may need more dry to hook, than the normal flare provided by hole on the PAP or even past it. I believe the end result could be that it makes the ball less controllable.
 
also makes wonder if a Punisher or milder ball drllied more normally might be preferable.

The basics of this long winded post were the ball was laid out with pin above ring and cg less than an in inch below ring.  Ball had fingerweight some of which was taken out with a deeper ring finger hole to get to legal(still legal maximum fingerweight).

Ball because of construction is very smooth but was too late and not quite enough pop.

Put weighthole up even with cg and out past val(1 inch) to get an earlier reaction and a touch of pop!  WOW.

This on a shot that usually doesn't have much midlane oil but often has some carrydown.

To change same setup I believe but with weighthole up(need pin and cg up also) and a weighthole on VAL.

I would recommend test throwing before planting a weighthole.  Note ball above did not need a weighhole to tweak!
