Going from grips to no grips
« on: June 02, 2008, 08:41:53 AM »
Presuming my span & pitches are now correct, do I need to make any adjustments or keep everything the same. I currently use the full fingertip grip(relaxed span), but I use the semi fingertip clear vinyl grips. Do I need to use less reverse/more forward on the fingers to compensate for the difference? Thanks for your input!

The semi's are the grips with the big lump in them correct? The point of this grip is to give the bowler a lot of lift on the ball, so if you are going from this to no grips, you might want to try giving yourself a little bit more forward pitch in the fingers to help get that lift on the ball.

Do you drill your own equipment?

I have stuff with and without. I can barely tell a difference (although I do wear a golf glove, so I don't actually have skin in contact with the ball or insert surface).

My brother went from grips to no grips and it dropped his track almost 1/2".

Thanks for the replies.

Yes, the semi's have the bump.

No, I don't drill my own equipment, but I wanted more input on pitches than what my ball driller might say.

Machine, I don't need my track to drop any, I'm already kind of low.

I'm giving this second thoughts, & I may settle somewhere in between. Thanks again!
