Grips vs. No Grips

I have always used grips and was thinking about experimenting with no grips.  What advantages or disadvantages are there?

When i did that it wrecked my finger, plus I felt like I lost some revs which probably makes sense.

I feel bad for the bowler's defenceless equipement when the bowler is not bowling up to par. . . .don't you?

it helps for some not to grip the ball as much during the release, my friend just switched from grips to nothing and has 2 299s a 300 and 846

ok I just recently have dne the same thing.. I've heard most people lose revs on the ball when you do it or you van get bad caluses.. neither has happened to me.. I was going through so many sets of grips it just didn't seem to economical to not even try without them.. I think if your fitted correctly and if you like the feel it will be ok...

To each their own. I myself found that I over hit the ball with inserts like there was no penalty for turning it too hard. I like the feel of the ball, never have to worry about changing anything when the wear out. Took some time getting use to, but for me I just like the clean feel of no inserts.

Thanks for the quick responce.  I drill all my equipment myself, and unfoutunaltly I only have a measuring ball to go off.  I know I don't want to go cut to cut with my balls with inserts.  So i would go from the edge of the insert, correct?

well do u even know if the span and pitches are right??

I have not used grips in years, and i am more than happy with the switch.  I still rev the ball as much if not more than i used to and i definetly get out of the ball alot cleaner.

I made the change a few years ago. No regrets at all. Always had problems with inserts swelling, shrinking in different temperatures. So I changed to no grips but with a good amount of bevel. Get out of the ball much cleaner with no loss of revs at all. I would definitely recommend it and play with the amount of bevel to get the perfect feel.

some people do have pitches in the fingers also..so its not guaranteed to be the same feel as ur stuff..
