No secrets...just things I've talked about before.
Coke Bottle test, flexibility test, picking up pencils off table test.
Then for actual span...you know stetched hand where is middle of last two joints. Any wear on fingers side front or back versus current pitches.
Also for thumb pitch...where does arm swing in relation to initial ball path!
The watch for timing sequence of thumb fingers. Thumb in too long...fingers in too long.
This guy had a nasty looking thumb. Nail corner damage. Back of thumb damage.
Hand went inside of initial ball line at moment of release a tad then tried to fake finish on ball line.
So by a shortening span and leaving reverse the same we got thumb out cleaner and earlier. Leaving ball travelling on fingers alone for a little longer. Adjusting for his anatomy pitch under palm right now his arm swings slightly on and out towards gutter in releation to initial ball path.
Much like an inside out swing in golf!
