Has anyone ever done this??
« on: March 12, 2004, 08:43:25 AM »
I reslugged my Inferno last night and apparently didn't let the glue dry good enough.  I was practicing in league tonight and the slug came out of the hole about two inches.

I took it in the back after league and drilled it out.  I punched the hole a 1 3/8 so I wouldn't have to worry about it happening again.  Then I went to grab an insert and we were out.  So, I said ok, i will just plug it.  Guess what, basically no plug resin.  I am thinking "great", tourney tomorrow, favorite ball sitting at home b/c the stupid manager can't order materials.

So heres what we did.  We mixed what little bit of resin we had.  Then we put another 1 1/4 slug in the hole.  We made dam and poured the plug around the insert down into the 1 3/8 hole.  I will go in tomorrow morning and drill out the insert and cut the plug off.  Do you think it will work??  Have anyone every tried this before??

Well, it worked!!  I went in this morning and cut the plug/slug off.  Then, I made the measurement and drilled the hole.

Author, thanks, I figure it will take 220 over or so.  The reason I didn't use another 1 1/4 is b/c the slug would slide into the hole fairly easy.  The last thing i want is for this to happen again today.  So, I gambled and it worked.

agroves -- Never done (or even thought about doing) this.  The slug will stay in, no doubt, but if you didn't get it centered exactly you may drill through the edge.  If that happens, consider drilling out for a sleeve, I've done that a couple of time when I wanted to change span or pitch and drilled through the edge of the slug, and it worked fine.  Good luck in your tournament.  --  JohnP

Added on edit - Sorry, I didn't look at the other responses before I made mine.  Better late than never??
