Title: Have a serious Problem.....

I am going to be bowling in a house that is known for EXTREMELY DRY backends. I try to throw reactive equipment pearlized, and it cleans the heads fine, but as soon as it hits the backend, it hooks way too far brooklyn. I try particle pearl, but it does the same thing. I tried a ebonite fire drilled weak, and it hooks too much one shot and too little the next (very inconsistant). I tried urethane, and this is the only thing that works, however there is no power with the urethane. My question is, what type of ball should I use for this pattern? Here are my ideas: I can possibly drill a particle sanded weak and make it not read the backends. I can possibly drill a solid reactive and drill it weak. My other question is, what ball should I use specifically? I was thinking of a super charge or depth charge. These balls are midlane, and I think would do good in not reading the extremely dry backends. ANY comments accepted. Ask me questions if your not sure on precise information!

My info: Left handed, medium revs, medium speed.
Lanes to be bowled on: Extremely dry backends, outside oil (already tried playing the oil there, too inconsistant, and if pulled a board or two, will hit 10 pin!)

urethane is still the answer my friend. Get one that has a core! The xxl from lane 1 (dont get me started abt lane 1, just a suggestions) the slate blue gargoyle from visionary (i recomend this one) those just name a few

Learn to take hand out of the ball and kill the hook...Move inside and tighten up your line...I guarantee there is enough oil inside to keep the ball on line, and not over react on the backend...Weaker balls on the market are the Columbia Panic, Pure Hammer, Ebonite Ice (with a weak drilling), and a V2 dry, if you can find one.

I would go with something with an RG under 2.5 and drill it somewhere around
2" pin with the pin/CG/thumb being in a stright line.

you do have another option besides resin it is called the BIG BLUE EPARL it is great for getting through dry head and controlable backend. I am a lefty with high speed and high revs i get everything into a roll early and this ball clears the head like no other and is controlable on the backend. Drill it with pin high and reap the rewards.

Going with a pearl of any kind is a bad idea for extremely strong backends. All that a pearl does on extremes is exaggerate the lane condition. The best thing for strong backends is a weak solid drilled for control or a urethane. Balls like a Slate Blue Gargoyle would be excellent. If you stepped up into a reactive, something like a Sonic X Solid if you can get one. Too bad they do not make a V2 Dry anymore. I have personally thrown a Slate Blue Gargoyle, and though it is a pearl, it will not be as "jumpy" off the dry that a pearl reactive would.

yeah, I have to agree... first thing that came to my mind was the Visionary cenatuar... very low flare weak-ish solid resin...

Use a urethane like the Old Navy Blue Hammer.

Jim12387 -- I'll third the Slate Blue Gargoyle recommendation. The only urethane ball I'm aware of that's currently in production (the XXL is out of production, but you might find one somewhere). I have one, I only have to move left on the approach about three boards compared to my old original Black Hammer, but the ball hits and carries much better. -- JohnP

Actually there are a few urethanes out. Scout by columbia, pure hammer, slate blue gargoyle, urethane groove.

Yes the slate blue would be the way to go,
Or might I suggest a Centaur with a 315 on it,
especially if the backend fly like you say.

I'd go with either the Ebonite V2 Dry or the Track Dry Heat with a very tame drilling.
