Hey all. I have a hammer patriot 3 1/2 oz topweight 3 inch pin and I'm confused as hell on how to drill it for lighter-dry lane conditions. It has a weak coverstock but the core is so strong that the flare potential on the drill sheet says 4-8 inches. If I'm getting a 4 inch minimal flare potential out of a label drill with my revs how am I going to set this thing up for lighter conditions or shorter patterns.
FYI, whenever I go pin over bridge, C.G. under bridge, due to my axis tilt and PAP(4 3/4 over 5/16ths up) this is a really strong layout for me and gives me the most angle. I would go pin axis but I don't want to lose hitting power when playing inside like pin axis balls tend to do. Any experienced drillers have any drilling "secrets" that they might use. I've heard talk of a 135 degree drilling that sounds interesting but it also sounds like it just squares up at 30 feet and rolls forward instead of covering too many boards. I'm not looking for that, just alot of length with a small arc, just enough to finish from inside when the track is burnt.
