Title: Help - Faball Nail Ball - Drilling Layout
Post by: Borincano on December 26, 2004, 10:35:38 AM
I got as a gift an original Faball Nail bowling ball. 15.13 pounds Pin 1 inch Top weight of 3 ozs. I have a relax span of 4 7/16 and 4 3/8. Oval thumb with zero pitch all. Axis rotation is 45, tilt is zero, speed of 17 to 18. PAP is 4 7/8 and 1/2 up. I basically throw through arrows 3 and 2. Standing at 29 for 3 arrow or 19 for 2 arrow.

Please advice with what type of layout should i drill this ball.

Thanks.

Borincano -- The original Nail has a very mild core, resulting in less than one inch of flare.  I would suggest a basic label drill with the pin under the ring finger and the cg kicked out about 1/2" to the right of the centerline.  This ball has a hard polished urethane cover and will not break much unless the lanes are really fried (I have one).  While you could scuff the cover and get a little more hook out of it, I'd suggest leaving it in box condition and using it for spares and fried lanes.  --  JohnP

Thanks JohnP and Dale for your insight of the Nail. Now I can discuss with my driller the facts about this ball. Again Thanks and appreciate your time.
