spinner drilling
« on: January 31, 2004, 02:47:06 PM »
im not sure if thats how u would call my brothers style. He has a decent amount of revs but his ball barely hooks (note we use the same kind of balls see profile). He gets off more of the side on the ball and lanes has to be light-dry for his ball to move and hes really having a hard time to get to pocket if theres a decent amount of oil. What type of drilling would work for him?

thanks

If he is like a true top spinner, its hard to say. Any drilling would probably move just as little as the next. Spinners only have like 1/4 inch of the ball touching at one time, so the ball cannot generate friction well. I mean Im not saying he should change his style, but it would help. If not I would say go for maybe pin below and to the right of ring finger(righty) or below and left of it(lefty)

The problem with spinners is that their ball goes too long before hooking. Therefore, they need the ball to start rolling sooner. So, negative pins, pin in balls, CG out drillings, pins in the thumb quadrant, pins past their PAP, negative weights and stuff like that usually will work for them. =:^D

he could hook the ball as long as its light-dry and no problem on carrying(note he uses money on this condition drilled pin in ring finger box condition where as i have to move 3rd to 4th arrow in this condition with same ball). But even on fresh shot he had to cut quite a bit on his speed to get his ball to pocket. Dont know how to get the axis point but based on what i see on columbias website(tech doc) he releases the same way as guy in 90 degree axis ( i think). He has med speed (about 16mph) and plays up the boards. thanks
