Help me identify this oval thumb insert
« on: December 10, 2003, 12:13:17 AM »
I have 3 left that I bought from my old driller and want to order more from someone online....unfortunately there isn't many pictures to look at.

It is a 1 1/4 drill, and is pretty stiff....I'm using the 1 1/32 now and want some in the next smaller size....

there is a pic here:

Is it possible your old driller was making his own thumb inserts, from the kit that Donkee Products sells?

To me it looks just like the tapered ovals that Vise sells.

Then most of the taper taken out looks like this ball has had a rasp applied to it.

Just like this one their color is not pure white it is got a small amount of grey in it.

Also the amount of oval like this one is great!  In other words it is much wider than it is deep.

Just a thought.

this is definately a commercially made oval insert..not custom...

he had a whole display of them....it is oval from top to bottom, you can install it either way and it feels the same.

For my thumb it is a PERFECT fit, I just want to get more of them...

In the smaller sizes it is a 1 1/8" drilled hole, when you go over like 15/16 it becomes a 1 1/4" hole...

the link to bowlers paradise looks like it, but that says "oval on one end, tapered on the other" ????

I'm going to call around today and see what I can find...

It looks to me like a Turbo sleeve, as they require a 1 1/4 drill from 31/32 to 1 1/16
sleeve size.
