Help me with some instructions?
« on: September 26, 2008, 04:46:24 AM »
I just picked up a new drill press today!!  Got it dirt cheap, bits, router/plug cutter and bevel sander.  I'm talking stupid cheap!!  Here's the thing, I've been drilling on an old AMF bench top, this bad boy is an AMF "Sidewinder" Horizontal.  I think it's a 2500? Man is there is a lot of levers and such on here.  It didn't come with a manual.  Does anyone have a manual that they could e-mail me?

You might check with JohnP, I believe he mentioned having a copy of the manual as well.

you might call Otis Pillow pro shop (817-282-2401), he very recently retired an old horizontal machine (actually still has it)but I am not sure what brand or model it is. He has been drilling on that machine for many, many years and might be able to share some info. and or tips.

I do have a AMF 2500 manual somewhere in the shop.  It would be easiest for me to copy it and mail it to you.  Send me a PM with your mailing address and I'll try to find it tonight.  --  JohnP

thanks guys, I ended up finding one on Innovative's web site.  I already paid for it.  They still have parts for this thing too.  Which may come in handy.  Thanks again everyone!!!

I drill on an AMF 3600 sidewinder.  After you read the instruction manual, I'll be glad to give you my phone number in a PM and discuss any questions you may have.  The two drills are not exactly the same, but the principles are.  --  JohnP

Thanks John,
I now wonder which one I picked up.  I couldn't find a model # on the unit, what are the physical differences, if any?

I've never seen a 2500, just the picture in the manual.  I know it doesn't look like the 3600, so when you get your manual you will be able to tell.  Hopefully if you get the wrong manual you can exchange it.  The 3600 does have the number on the unit, I'll look tonight to see where.  --  JohnP
