best layout for a 5" pin??
« on: January 23, 2006, 03:28:23 AM »
Hi!

I have med rev(~300rpm) med speed(16-17mph), high track on the ball.

I want your suggestion for heavy oil, skid/flid long and big back end. want to play near the gutter if possible and usually I stand 22 and break point at 5. I hope this will help you out to figure what I'm looking for.

roto-grip RSX(15lb)...need to do something with the cover to have a better reaction?

Thanks,

Denis

With a 5 inch pin, the farther you put a mass bias in a ball from your axis, the more backend you will get.  Ex:  Putting the mass say at 3 1/2 is going to get the core to rev up in the midlane a bit, so it will have more of a roll at the breakpoint.  When you put the mass at 5 1/4 - 5 1/2, you will get more of the skid/flip type of reaction.  For heavy oil, take some polish off the ball and go with a 3 1/2 mass placement.  Once the lanes break down a bit and to get the skid/flip, polish the ball with some Clean n Sheen or Magic Shine and go with more of a 5 1/2 mass placement.
