Effects of under-negative
« on: August 03, 2007, 10:05:21 AM »
I bowled with someone throwing a Black Widow Pearl recently.  It was drilledwith the pin under the middle ringer, and he was right-handed.  He says "rolly, rolly" so what do you think the effects of an under-negative drilling would be?  Would it pick up a midline roll and backend strongly?  What effects would this drilling have on both solid and pearl coverstocks?

Totally depends on the pin to PAP distance.  --  JohnP

John has it right...more specifically though the pin is not "negative" as your ball roll is not based on your grip, it is based on your track.  If your PAP is 5" over and 1" up, a 5 and 1/2" drilling could place the pin under your middle finger.

pin to pap distance is everything. i'm never afraid to put a pin on the negative side if the person has a lower pap.
