Help with new ball drillings
« on: November 22, 2010, 11:02:51 AM »
Any help would be greatly appreciated.  My pap is 4 1/2 over and 2 up. Iam a high speed high rev player.  My most successful drilling and safest is a stacked leverage drill.

Keep in mind anytime i have went with a pin under my fingers I have had problems with rolling over the fingers.  I am not great with this ball stuff so if you could simplify to me, so i can translate to my ball driller.

I just bought 4 new balls.  Storm Anarchy, Track 916 AT,  Columbia outburst, Brunswick urethane avalanche

My questions is which ball is the strongest and how should i drill it?

Which ball for backend, left turn off the spot?

Which ball for an aggressive arc type drill.  Nothing jumpy?

Iam looking for 1 of the balls to be overall strong, one to be drilled to make a left turn on the back end, and the other to be an agressive arc something that is jumpy but not weak either.

I appreciate any help, thanks

If any are wondering why I dont just ask my ball driller, its because hes old school gives me a great deal, just looking for something new.  If I tell him what to do he will do, just not the greatest on suggestions

Also any suggestions with the avalanche?  I want it to go straight as possible.  To only be used when its dust out there, or when it gets squirly and need to go straighter

Thanks again

from my experience. The track ball would probably be best as the backend snap. I threw a friends and thats exactly what it did. Other members know more, just wait.

Someone with a 4 1/2" over 2" up PAP shouldn't have a problem flaring into the fingers with pin down layouts.  I suspect your PAP has been determined from a later flare ring instead of the first one.  If you have a non-flaring ball check the PAP on it and confirm it with a piece of white tape.  --  JohnP

Just curious, how did you decide on these four balls if you don''t know which one is the strongest?

Also, 2 up would be somewhat unusual for a PAP I would think, that sounds like a lot.

I decided based on its the only 3 companies I will throw, and figured on the brunswick ball because of urethane.  I decided it becuase i orginally had the natural and didnt like the way it rolled at all, so i got rid of it.

I have an idea of which is which, looking for a drilling more then anything I guess.

My thoughts:

Anarchy- Strongest
916 AT - backend
Outburst- in the middle

Where i need advice is on the drillings

Also on my pap.  I hear that all the time that its unusual, but that is what it is.  I have a high track and anytime my pin has been under its rolled over.  Any suggestions on how to go pin under without it rolling over the fingers?

Thanks

Not to argue, but has your PAP been confirmed by watching the ball with a piece of white tape on the PAP?  Anyway, a balance hole in the thumb positive quadrant, similar to the one used for the Rico layout, should raise the track's bowtie enough to avoid flaring into the fingers.  Of course, you have to keep the static weights legal after the hole is drilled.  --  JohnP

I drill for 2 bowlers with a PAP close to 6 inches.  I have to put the pin below and slightly to the right of the ring finger so the flair does not hit the fingers.
