Recommended pro shop in northern indiana?
« on: July 16, 2009, 02:49:51 AM »
I'm looking to scrap my old specs and go to a driller that will do a good job of giving me the proper fit.  The info I've read on the lateral pitch post got me thinking that I need to reexamine my grip.  I live in South Bend, IN and would be willing to travel 60 miles or so if I knew I was going to someone good.  Let me know if you have any recommendations.

Shane,

Kofoid's Pro Shop.  Mark Kofoid is in the the Indiana bowling hall of fame, and knows his stuff.  Bit of a drive, but my wife and I have driven to South Bend for the antiques, and its not to bad a drive.  The number is (219) 864-8678.  Located in Dyer, Indiana.  Call him talk over your needs.  I know he can help.

Is he in a bowling alley or in a stand alone?  Probably would be good if he saw me throw a couple shots.  Also, do you know if he drills switch grip thumbs because that is all I use.

Another good pro shop in Dyer is Wally Galka's.  Or if you feel like driving to Fort Wayne, Trace Chamberlain at Crazy Pinz and Georgetown Bowl is considered one of the best in the midwest. Good luck.

What is Brian's last name?  I'm familiar with that pro shop and it has changed owners a couple times thelast couple years.  What is your experience with him?

Trace is good.
Not to mention Crazy pinz is one of the wildest bowling alleys ever...

But I can recommend Trace, though I don't have my stuff drilled by him because the cost is a little high but he drills a friend of mines stuff switch grip and all and he can have everything done pretty fast and makes a good fit I know that.

I also know of another guy her in Ft. Wayne but you would never be able to contact him and espcially in the summer, he doesn't seem to ever be at the shop, so it's not worth the hassel..

shane,

last i knew charlie tapp was inside olympia lanes in up their in the hammond area, another great ball driller is just over the michigan-indiana line in the benton harbor area, bill froberg, he's the proprietor of kelley's in st. joes.  two of his former employees jason utter and david lange do good work too in benton harbor at amf blossom lanes.  surely you know bill, he's everywhere in the michiana area.
