High top weight, short pin
« on: September 11, 2015, 04:36:40 PM »
I know that it should be a pin under the fingers layout, gotcha.

I ordered a bulk order of balls, most were great 1st quality specs. However I got a few odd balls...like 1-2 inch pins..fine.

What do I do with 1-2 in pin AND 5oz top weight?

Does that just mean pin down hole ________?

Sorry if it a dumb question...I am no proshop operator, I know what works for me through trial and error...and I am hooking all my friends up with NIB equipment...so I don't want to give the ball a home if the specs are terrible...I already know the PSO is going to have a cow...

Anyhow let me know what u think..

Thanks

Wouldn't 5 oz of top weight make it a 2nd?

Right, but stay on topic.  It was a super deal.  Regardless...

Drilling the fingers is like 2oz right? Weight hole is another 1oz...as long as its under 2 after drilling were ok right?

I just need to have an answer that 5oz can or cannot be drilled..

I think the top limit is 3 oz. I ran into an issue with my Covert Revolt last year in Reno. Same situation, short pin, but 4 oz of top. It was right at three oz after drilling, one day they said okay, next day said it had too much top. My cg was very close to the center of grip so a weight hole would be in an odd place, so I left it as is.

If you can get the cg over where you can put a reasonable weight hole, you should be able to make it legal.

Depends, if you drill the fingers too deep, you start adding more top.

If you don't take it to the Open (or a regional) you will be fine as it will never be weighed. :-)

However, if you do take it to Reno this year and it's close, you can do what I did. I took it like I was going to have a weight hole drilled, then just removed the finger inserts. The idiots at the scale didn't know any different. Once in the squad room, I put them back in.  ;D
