How come there is so much importantance....
« on: October 11, 2004, 05:18:43 AM »
Just want to know from you other Pro-Shop drillers out there why people are so concerned with side weight and finger or thumb weight when now-a-days it doesn't mean anything other than legality.....I mean the cores and coverstocks are so strong that it really doesn't play any importance anymore......But try telling that to a person who thinks 3/4 of an ounce side weight makes a difference in a 15lb ball.....16 ounces in a pound and 15 pounds in a 15 lb ball.......doesn't make much sense to me

BAPS_Eric -- Have you ever driven a car that had a tire one ounce out of balance?  Seriously, with today's balls imbalance doesn't make a whole lot of difference.  But a lot of bowlers don't know that.  Before dynamic cores, all we had to work with was imbalance and that's what they still remember.  And many of them have passed that on to younger bowlers.  Try to educate them, but if they want specific weights, give them to them, just be sure you also put the pin in the right location.  --  JohnP
